Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow

I picked this up last year, read 40 odd pages and felt nothing. Put it back on my shelf. Fast forward 12ish months, I saw it on audio and thought let’s give this another crack and ya wanna know something crazy?! I’m fucking glad I did. I loveddddd this. Without repeating the thousands of people who have given it a top notch review, this isn’t just a book about video games. It’s about friendship, it’s about love - it’s raw, emotional, horribly sad and hilariously funny.

Not being a gamer in any way, shape or form, I enjoyed the dialogue around game creation. It took me back to a better time of Sega’s and Nintendos. Fark, how good were the 90’s? Zevin creates a world where you don’t need to know anything about gaming, but you are embedded in the community. I was invested in their next game, I wanted them to succeed. I was emotionally caring for the characters and my heart got ripped apart.

This was the first fiction audiobook I have listened to in a little while (I think my tally is at 3), and for me to love is credit to the narrators. Incredible job. If this was a DNF for you, maybe try listening - worked for me.
