Bellies
This is a beautifully written book. I knew it was good, because bookstagram had told me so, but I still went in with an open mind to ensure I didn’t fog the content. And I can say my mind was open and I inhaled every part of this beautiful story.
Dinan opens the story with Tom and Ming in college. They stumble through the years as friends and then as partners, which takes an abrupt turn as Ming transitions. During this time, they make mistakes and deal with them. They emotionally mature in a way that is unknown to them and they both rely heavily on their friends and families to guide them through their life journey. There is trauma, sadness, lightbulb moments, vulnerability, momemts of ‘what the fuck am I doing?’ and it felt real.
Do yourself a favour and pick it up.
